Vietnam's harvest begins 1-2 months later than Thailand, with July marking the peak supply period for Vietnamese mangosteens. The fruit is available fresh for only 6-10 weeks during peak season due to its delicate nature and limited shelf life. This short supply window leads to significant price fluctuations both within the season and year-to-year. Peak popularity in the Chinese market occurs during June-July when both countries have optimal supply, offering the best quality fruit at competitive prices.
