Durian
About this fruit
ASEAN→China durian trade shows strong growth in recent years.
Seasonal Availability
Durian is primarily a mid-year fruit with distinct peak seasons across Southeast Asia. In Thailand, the main harvest runs from April to September, with peak availability in July when both eastern and southern regions produce simultaneously. Eastern Thailand begins its harvest earlier in April-May, while southern regions maintain an extended season from January through December. Malaysia's durian season peaks from May to August, with abundant supply particularly in July, and a smaller secondary season from October to February. The overlapping peak period of May-August across both countries creates the most favorable market conditions, with prices typically lower due to abundant supply. Chinese consumers experience the highest availability and best value during these summer months.
